Context

Century West is a small neighborhood located in Central Bend, Oregon, approximately 2.5 miles southwest on SW Century Drive, also known as, Cascade Lakes Highway. The area was originally settled in the early 1900s by homesteaders attracted to the fertile land and abundant water resources. These early inhabitants constructed cabins and barns while clearing land for farming and ranching. As the community expanded, so did the need for infrastructure, leading to Century West being officially platted as a town in 1909. The initial years were marked by significant growth and transformation, with new businesses and homes emerging to cater to the increasing population. Century West continued to thrive into the mid-20th century and is now recognized as one of Bend's most vibrant and desirable neighborhoods. Its rich history and active community make it a distinctive place to reside.
